The skill of predicting the biological outcomes of a treatment being applied is especially important for the diagnosis and therapy of orthopaedic diseases.
The prognostic component of a management plan provides for the logic of treatment, making the therapeutic outcome a logical consequence of orthopaedic treatment, compatible with the biology of healing. Regarding the developing body of a child, prognosis should account for the child’s growth potential and this is regarded as particularly important from a biological point of view as well as being sometimes especially difficult in terms of treatment choices.
